Internet bonding basics

What is internet bonding?

Internet bonding combines several separate internet connections into one logical connection that is faster and more resilient than any of them individually. Traffic is split across every active link and reassembled at the far end, so a single video stream or file transfer can use the combined bandwidth of all connections at once, and keeps running if one of them fails.

What is the difference between internet bonding and load balancing?

Load balancing sends each separate session down one link; bonding splits a single session across several links at once. With load balancing, one video call still gets the speed of one connection, and it drops if that connection fails. With bonding, that same call uses the combined capacity of every link and survives a link failure without reconnecting. Load balancing is simpler and cheaper; bonding is what you need when an individual session must be faster or more reliable than any one line can deliver.

How is bonding different from SD-WAN?

SD-WAN is about choosing intelligently between links; bonding is about using them simultaneously. SD-WAN steers each application down the most suitable connection according to policy, which is excellent for cost control and application priority across branch sites. Bonding aggregates links into one larger pipe. They are complementary, and Benlycos Clover devices do both — per-application traffic steering and QoS on top of bonded WAN links.

Does internet bonding increase my speed?

Yes, for a single transfer, which is what distinguishes it from load balancing. Aggregate throughput is roughly the sum of the individual links minus a small overhead for the bonding protocol. Real-world results depend on the quality of each link — bonding four congested cellular connections in a crowded location will not match four clean ones, though it will still be considerably better than any single link on its own.

Does bonding work with connections from different providers?

Yes, and mixing providers is the recommended approach. Bonding links from different operators protects you against a single operator having an outage, congestion or tower problem in your area. Benlycos devices bond across Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL simultaneously, and can combine cellular with fibre or broadband in the same bonded connection.

Do I need a special server at the other end for bonding to work?

Yes. Bonding requires an aggregation point that reassembles the split traffic before it reaches the wider internet, because the connections have different IP addresses and different latencies. Benlycos provides this through its bonding server infrastructure, so there is nothing for you to build or host.

Choosing a device

Which Benlycos device should I choose?

Choose Zifilink for fixed indoor installations, Clover for vehicles, outdoor and multi-site enterprise deployments, and Bloom when you need something portable and battery-powered. Zifilink bonds up to five cellular modems in a fixed location such as an office, studio or campus. Clover is the rugged multi-WAN and SD-WAN family for patrol vehicles, OB vans, industrial sites and branch networks. Bloom is a 5G MiFi device for one person on the move.

What is the difference between Zifilink and Clover?

Zifilink is a fixed-location cellular bonding router; Clover is a rugged multi-WAN and SD-WAN router built for movement and for multi-site management. Zifilink suits a building that needs one strong, redundant connection assembled from several cellular links. Clover adds vehicle and outdoor-rated hardware, mixed WAN types including fibre and broadband, per-application traffic steering, and centralised management across many locations.

What Clover models are available?

The Clover family includes CloverM2 Pro, CloverM2 Octa, CloverM2 Fusion, CloverM2 Fusion Mini, CloverM2 Forge and CloverM2 Forge Mini. They range from compact branch-office units to enterprise appliances supporting up to eight WAN connections. The Mini variants trade WAN count for size and power draw, which matters in vehicles and confined installations.

How many connections can be bonded at once?

Zifilink bonds up to five cellular modems simultaneously, and Clover supports up to eight WAN connections depending on model. Those WAN links can be a mixture of cellular, fibre and broadband rather than cellular alone.

Do Benlycos devices support 5G?

Yes. The Bloom range is 5G, and the Clover Fusion models are dual-WAN 5G hybrid routers. Devices bond 5G and 4G links together, which matters in India where 5G coverage is still uneven — the device uses 5G where it is available and falls back to bonded 4G where it is not, without interrupting the session.

Reliability and failover

How quickly does failover happen when a connection drops?

Under 50 milliseconds. Traffic is redistributed across the remaining active links fast enough that live sessions — VoIP calls, video conferences, live broadcasts, payment terminals — continue without dropping or reconnecting. No manual intervention is needed, and the link rejoins the bond automatically when it recovers.

Is internet bonding suitable for live video streaming?

Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons customers buy it. Live broadcast has no tolerance for a dropped connection mid-transmission, and a single cellular link rarely sustains reliable HD or 4K upload from an outdoor location. Bonding several links gives both the headroom and the redundancy. Benlycos devices are used for outside broadcast, live events and news gathering across India.

Will bonding help in an area with weak signal?

Usually yes, though it cannot create coverage where none exists. Bonding several weak links produces a usable connection that no individual link could sustain, and protects against the intermittent dropouts that make weak signal unworkable in practice. If no operator has any usable signal at a location, bonding has nothing to combine.

What happens to my IP address when a link fails?

It stays the same. Because traffic is reassembled at the bonding server, your public IP address belongs to the bonded connection rather than to any individual link. Sessions therefore survive a link failure instead of resetting, which is what allows a video call or VPN tunnel to continue uninterrupted.

Deployment and management

How are Benlycos devices managed?

Through the Benlycos Cloud Dashboard, from any location. It provides real-time monitoring of each link, network analytics, configuration management and remote firmware updates across every deployed unit, with zero-touch deployment for new devices. This matters when devices are distributed across vehicles or remote sites where sending an engineer is impractical.

How long does installation take?

A typical fixed installation is operational the same day. Insert the SIMs, connect power, and the device registers with the cloud dashboard and begins bonding. Vehicle and outdoor installations take longer because of mounting and antenna placement, which have more effect on real-world performance than any configuration setting.

Can bonding be used with an existing firewall or network?

Yes. The bonded connection presents as a normal internet uplink, so it sits upstream of your existing firewall, router or switch without redesigning the network behind it. Clover devices also include built-in VPN and firewall capability if you would rather consolidate.

Do you support deployments outside India?

Yes. Benlycos manufactures in India and ships internationally, and the devices work with any operator whose SIMs and bands the modems support. Get in touch with your target country and operators and we will confirm band compatibility before you order.

Who makes Zifilink, Clover and Bloom?

Benlycos Private Limited, an Indian OEM manufacturer of internet bonding and multi-WAN aggregation devices, headquartered in Bengaluru with an additional office in Kochi. The hardware and the bonding software are developed in-house rather than rebadged, which is why firmware-level issues can be fixed directly rather than escalated to an overseas vendor.

Who uses Benlycos devices?

Deployments include Hindustan Petroleum, Tamil Nadu Police, PwC, broadcast and live event production companies, rural education programmes and healthcare providers. The common thread is connectivity that has to work in places where a single line does not — vehicles, remote sites, temporary locations and buildings with unreliable last-mile service.

Is Zifilink the same company as Benlycos?

Yes. Zifilink is the Benlycos product line for fixed-location internet bonding routers. Earlier material and older links may refer to Zifilink as though it were a separate brand; it is a product family within Benlycos Private Limited.
